Israeli vs. Palestinian Cell phone ad
Wed, 07/22/2009 - 03:31 — Gihane AskarThis Israeli cell phone ad has sparked criticism and controversy. Some said the ad was in bad taste and did not portray the reality of the wall behind which the Palestinians live. Pro-Palestinian activists have produced a similar ad in response, and got a very different outcome. Watch and decide for yourself.

Mon, 07/20/2009 - 17:04 — Gihane AskarThis is a very interesting and rather unusual web site. It would be great if soldiers of other armies around the world would speak up like that.

Egyptian veiled woman stabbed to death
Thu, 07/09/2009 - 17:35 — Gihane AskarThe recent brutal killing of an Egyptian woman in Germany - because she was veiled - has rallied up Egyptians, namely bloggers, to express their anger. Wed, 07/01/2009 - 02:04 — Gihane AskarToday marks the official withdrawal of American troops from Iraq's cities and towns and the country declared it a national holiday to celebrate the event. While some people enjoyed the festivities, a car bomb exploded in a market in the city of Kirkuk, killing at least 24 people.
The insurgency was obviously making a point, but didn't they get what they wanted? Americans are finally starting to leave, so what is the excuse now?

Mon, 06/29/2009 - 16:23 — Gihane AskarIt is interesting to see how the Internet was used all along the elections and the protests that followed in Iran. How it started as a useful tool for the candidates and how it quickly became a nuisance for the government.
